Stone Work & Masonry in Pittsburgh

Stone is what makes a Pittsburgh property look like it has always been there. Kelley Construction lays natural stone walls, veneer, piers, and accents; repairs and repoints old stone and brick; and handles the concrete and block work underneath it all. Every course is set by hand, with mortar matched to what's already on the house.

What We Offer

Pittsburgh is full of stone and brick that needs a craftsman, not a patch: dry-laid and mortared garden walls, stone foundations, porch piers, and chimneys with failing joints. We build new stone work that fits the neighborhood and restore the old with matched stone and color-matched mortar, so the repair disappears.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you match the existing brick on my house?

In most cases, yes. We source reclaimed brick when possible and work with suppliers who carry heritage-style brick. For mortar, we color-match to the original so repairs blend in rather than stand out.

Natural stone or manufactured stone veneer?

Natural stone is cut from real rock and weathers like it — it costs more but lasts indefinitely and never looks fake up close. Manufactured veneer is lighter and less expensive, and good products look convincing from a few feet away. We'll show you samples of both and recommend based on where it's going and what's already on the house.

What's the difference between tuckpointing and repointing?

Repointing means grinding out old mortar and replacing it. Tuckpointing is a specific technique that uses two colors of mortar to create the appearance of very fine joints. Both restore structural integrity and appearance.
