Hardscaping is the backbone of any outdoor space. At Kelley Construction, we design and install walkways, driveways, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and paver systems across Greater Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Every project starts with a proper base — compacted aggregate, leveled sub-grade, and drainage planning — because what you can't see underground determines whether the work lasts five years or fifty.
We work with natural stone, interlocking concrete pavers, and flagstone to create surfaces that handle Pittsburgh's freeze-thaw cycles without heaving, cracking, or settling. Whether it's a simple front walkway or a full backyard living space with seating walls and lighting, the owner is on-site to make sure the job gets done right.

Most residential hardscape projects take 5-15 days depending on scope. A simple walkway might be done in a week. A full outdoor living space with seating walls and a fire pit could take two to three weeks.
We use compacted crushed limestone aggregate (typically 6-8 inches deep) with a leveling layer of concrete sand. Proper base prep is non-negotiable — it's what prevents settling and shifting.
Yes. Interlocking pavers are one of the most durable surfaces for freeze-thaw climates. They flex rather than crack. We also install with proper drainage so ice doesn't pool and cause heaving.
