Concrete and masonry are the bones of a building. Kelley Construction pours foundations, slabs, footings, and flatwork. We lay brick and block. We repoint old mortar joints and restore chimneys. If it involves cement, aggregate, or stone — we do it, and we do it right.
Pittsburgh's older housing stock has a lot of masonry that needs attention. Crumbling mortar joints, spalling brick, cracked foundation walls, deteriorating chimneys. We handle restoration work with attention to matching existing materials and mortar color. For new construction, we pour with air-entrained concrete, proper rebar, and control joints to manage cracking in our climate.

In most cases, yes. We source reclaimed brick when possible and work with suppliers who carry heritage-style brick. For mortar, we color-match to the original so repairs blend in rather than stand out.
Look for horizontal cracks in block walls, stair-step cracks in brick, water intrusion, or doors and windows that stick. Any of these can indicate foundation movement. We'll do a free assessment.
Repointing means grinding out old mortar and replacing it. Tuckpointing is a specific technique that uses two colors of mortar to create the appearance of very fine joints. Both restore structural integrity and appearance.
